Standard features include auto / manual, tension on/off, manual setting pot, soft start and mains on/off. Available with enclosure .Outputs available to control motor drives, powder brakes, pneumatic brakes etc.

An Automatic Tension Controller (ATC) is a device used to automatically regulate the tension of a web (such as paper, film, foil, textiles, or plastic) during processing in various manufacturing operations. It plays a crucial role in industries that handle continuous materials, ensuring that the web moves smoothly through machines without overstretching, breaking, or causing misalignment.

Tension control is vital for maintaining product quality, preventing defects, and ensuring efficient operation of machinery. An ATC continuously monitors and adjusts the tension applied to the web to maintain the desired setpoint, improving the accuracy and consistency of the production process.

How an Automatic Tension Controller Works:
  1. Sensors:

    • The system uses tension sensors (typically load cells or torque sensors) to measure the tension of the web in real-time. These sensors detect the force being applied to the material as it moves through the system.

  2. Controller:

    • The controller processes the data from the sensors and compares the measured tension to the pre-set target value. If the actual tension deviates from the target, the controller makes adjustments by sending signals to the control mechanisms (such as brakes, motors, or dancers).

  3. Actuators:

    • Actuators (such as pneumatic or electric brakes, motors, or dancer rolls) adjust the tension based on commands from the controller. For example, if the tension is too high, the system may apply a brake to reduce speed; if the tension is too low, it may increase the speed of the web or apply more force to the rollers.

  4. Feedback Loop:

    • The system operates in a continuous feedback loop. As the tension changes, the sensors detect the change and send updated data to the controller. The controller then adjusts the actuators to correct the tension until it stabilizes at the target value.
